Bereavement is the experience of losing someone or something important to you.
Grief describes the process and range of emotions we go through when we experience loss.
Grieving is a natural and important process. While many people find their own ways to cope, it is always okay to seek support along the way.
You may need time to express and understand your feeling towards your loss, and figure out your new way of being. However, for some it is enough to know that what you are feeling is normal and with some information about bereavement and grief, you can begin to find your own way forward with fewer sessions of support.

Loss isn’t always about death — and grief can appear in many forms.

Grief influences every aspect of our well-being — from our physical health to our emotions, thoughts, spirit, relationships, and actions.
Bereavement counselling doesn't try to fix you or take away your grief. You aren't broken, you are learning to adapt to a different reality. You don't want to forget your loved ones, but to slowly grow around your grief. Understand difficult feelings and learn new ways of coping.
Being bereaved can sometimes feel lonely — like there’s an elephant in the room and no one quite knows what to say. In counselling, you don’t have to hide your grief or make it smaller for others’ comfort. This is a space to speak freely, to be heard, and to explore what your loss means for you.
